How To Roll Over Your
Into Your New Charles Schwab Account
You just need to send a recent copy of a statement to service@vaultwealth.us we'll be able to determine the next steps.
If an all digital rollover is available (ACAT), you will receive a secure request from Charles Schwab to approve the transfer. In some cases we need to use DocuSign, and in that case a DocuSign request is sent directly to your email address. The transfer forms will already be filled out, so you'll just need to verify the information and digitally sign them.
We'll take the transfer form and submit it to your old custodian and monitor the transfer from there.
You'll be notified when the funds arrive to your new IRA.
When an all digital transfer is not possible
Depending on the institution where your old IRA is held, they may require their own forms or our forms but with a physical signature.
If that is required, we will notify you and securely upload the transfer documents to you. Then you just need to print, sign, and re-upload the form(s) to us.
It's also possible that the institution where your old IRA is held may require you to call and request form(s) to be sent to you. If that is the case, we will notify you and help guide you through the process. Usually we are able to obtain the forms for you though, so this is rare.
If your institution asks where to send the check(s), you can reference the below address and ask them to make the check out to "CHARLES SCHWAB [Your Name]"
Send Checks To
Charles Schwab & Co., INC
P.O. Box 982603
El Paso, Texas 79998
If you would rather have them send it directly to you, that is fine as long as it is made out to CHARLES SCHWAB FBO [Your Name] and you understand that you should NEVER deposit an IRA rollover check into your bank. Doing so, and failing to complete the rollover process into a qualified account, will result in the IRS deeming this a withdrawal and not a rollover. Withdrawals are subject to income tax and (if under the age of 59 1/2) early withdrawal penalties.
Once you've received the check you can contact us and make arrangements to get it to us so we can have it deposited into your Charles Schwab account.
Generally speaking, this process should be fairly painless and can be completed digitally.
When your old IRA is held at a bank or a mutual fund company, completing their forms and mailing them in can make the process move slower. It feels more like the process of rolling an old 401k over. But take heart! Persevere and your new Vault IRA will be funded in no time!
